Sean Link is our Member of the Month! He has recently joined us and has really crushed it since then. Sean is currently a paramedic and joined us to get ready for the Fire Academy. He currently comes to the 5 am class mostly because he has two young kids and makes it a priority to work on his health and fitness.
Sean is a great addition to the gym, he works hard, pushes others, and is just genuinely a nice guy. If you have been in a class with Sean, then he has introduced himself to you. He makes everybody feel welcome and then smashes the workout!
Congrats Sean, this is well deserved!
When did you join Croga?
April 2023
What were you doing before for fitness?
I started with the Peloton. It was a good on-ramp for me but got boring pretty quickly. Later, I branched out into powerlifting. Bench, squat, deadlift, and overhead press with pretty much no accessory work at all.
What was your first workout? First reaction to your first workout?
Pretty much all accessory work! Bulgarian split squats, dumbbell lunges, and box jumps. It was really hard, and I kinda hated it, so I knew it was what I should be doing. I’ve been coming ever since.
What improvements have you seen in the way you look, feel and perform?
My lower-back/hip pain is completely gone and I have more energy to crawl around on the floor with my kids. Lately, I’ve been noticing my face looks thinner.
What days and times do you come to Croga?
I come whenever work and family allow. It’s mostly 5am these days. Before that it was 3:30.
What’s your favorite WOD?
Anything with Farmers Carries.
What’s your least favorite WOD?
Anything with running.
“The Sean” WOD! What it be?
20 min AMRAP: 200 meter Run, 12 power cleans, and very heavy Farmer’s Carry to failure. Your score is the sum of meters travelled during the farmers carry.
What’s your favorite post-workout routine?
I usually go home and brush my teeth immediately. All that heavy breathing during the WOD leaves my breath kickin’. I can’t be the only one.
What’s been your favorite culinary discovery since joining Croga?
Overnight oats. I make big batches and switch up my mix-ins every day so I don’t get bored. Today I put full-fat yogurt, walnuts, stone fruit, and shredded coconut.
What’s your biggest fitness goal for this year?
Lose body fat and increase cardio, mobility, and explosiveness. I’d also like to run two miles in less than 16 min. I’m just trying to be great.
What do you love about this type of fitness?
It’s very applicable to my work. I feel like I’m armoring my body against injury.
What words of advice do you have for new members or people considering joining Croga?
Just show up. If you see a WOD on btwb that fills you with dread, make a special point to show up that day.
