Anthony is someone that always comes into class with a positive attitude and a hunger to get stronger and fitter every day. He never comes in, in a bad mood, but instead is one of the first people to give his fellow classmates a motivational pick me up. Anthony works hard in every class but also works smart. He welcomes coaching ques and is always quick to take the weight down a little bit to make sure his form is good. Anthony will research how to do movements correctly before coming to class and is committed to reaching his fitness goals.
Starting in February of this year, Anthony joined WAG and he has been crushing it. Since starting Anthony has adopted healthy eating habits, lost 27 lbs, and is now coming to the gym 5 days a week.
Anthony is part of the afternoon classes but if you ask him he belongs to the Furious 4:30. If you don’t regularly attend the afternoon classes and haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Anthony then try to make the trip to the 4:30 class, he will undoubtedly bring good energy to any class that he is in.
If you see Anthony, congratulate him on a well deserved Croga Fitness accolade.
When did you join Croga?
I want to say around February of 2019.
What were you doing before for fitness?
Prior to joining Croga I didn’t workout for years. I’ve done things for fitness in the past but that was back in 2016 and most of those workouts took place at a 24-hour fitness. I worked behind a desk, always ate out, didn’t drink enough water, etc, so during the time I found Croga I was really just looking to get back into the swing of things.
What was your first workout? First reaction to your first workout?
The 1st workout I did was “Helen” and my first reaction was “I have a lot of work to do” lol
What improvements have you seen in the way you look, feel and perform?
As far as looks I am definitely leaner, but the real prize is how I feel and perform now. I’m no professional at Crossfit but there is a noticeable difference in the way I feel and perform from my first day until now.
What days and times do you come to Croga?
Mon-Fri at the “Furious 4:30” and occasionally Sat or Sunday depending on the workout and or if I miss a day during the week.
What’s your favorite WOD?
So far ‘Douglas Miller” we just did it last Sunday and it was an absolute barbell fiesta! I remember walking into that workout on an hour of sleep, that’s how serious I was about making that Sunday WOD lol.
What’s your least favorite WOD?
I’d have to say anything with a lot of running, “however” that does not hinder me from attending. 5 days a week is 5 days a week, if running is on the menu il take 2!
“The Anthony” WOD! What would it be?
It would definitely have to be a partner WOD
Synchronized squat cleans.
Low rep heavy bench press.
End it with a 500 meter row FT
I did synchronized squat cleans with Francis one Saturday, that was a good day. I remember my legs were giving out halfway thru and I noticed he wasn’t taking any weight off, in my mind I literally said “ok, well neither am I” in other words if he was going to fight for it then so was I!
Bench press because if you want everyone to show up to your “member WOD” you have to throw them some kind of bone. lol Numbers are usually high on bench day.
500 Meter row FT because there is nothing like a group of people around cheering one another on to get a good time/PR.
What’s your favorite post-workout routine?
Definitely LeanFeast bison patties!
What’s been your favorite culinary discovery since joining Croga?
I’ll be honest, I have not been cooking, I utilize LeanFeast for my weekly meals. They make it ridiculously easy and all of the food is on Myfitness Pal so you will know right away what fits your macros. Rumor at my local LeanFeast there is also a location in Idaho now, tell em I sent you!
What’s your biggest fitness goal for this year?
Olympic lifts, specifically squat snatches.
What do you love about this type of fitness?
It’s not limited to any “one thing” every day you’re doing something different and if you come enough you know exactly what you are good at and what you need to work on.
What words of advice do you have for new members or people considering joining Croga?
For new members, keep coming, even if you find the workout to be hard there are always scaling options to work you into certain movements. For people considering, you are going to love our community and we do here!
Anything to add that we didn’t touch on yet?
Big shout out to everyone I see and workout with weekly, Mark G, Andrew, Coach Johnny, Richard, Francis, Yev, Rachel and also some of the elite athletes I see on weekends like CJ, Rocky, Rob, Kal the list goes on.
