No one knows how Paul slipped through the cracks all of these years to get his first MOTM just now. Paul could have earned this honor most months over the 7+ years that he has been with us.

Paul is one of our more senior members but looks like he is 30 years old. Paul keeps himself looking and feeling young by eating healthy, meditating, stretching, working out, and spending time with loved ones. Paul takes care of himself physically and mentally while also pursuing his many career goals.

We all love Paul because he always comes to classes and Croga events with a smile and a positive attitude. We all want to be like Paul because Paul is the man! 🙂 Congrats! Well deserved!

When did you join Croga?
I believe it was around 2015.

What were you doing before for fitness?
I had a personal trainer that I worked with 1-1. We had fallen into a rut and I needed something really different.

What was your first workout? First reaction to your first workout?
I don’t remember the exact workout, but I remember box jumps were involved. The funny part is when I spoke with Dave before starting my first WOD, I mentioned how I was used to doing some cardio at the beginning followed by the whatever the movenments would be for the day. Dave laughed.  â€śMost people don’t find they need that!” He replied. Then I did my first WOD and when I got home I literally crawled through the back door and lay on the kitchen floor for 20 min without moving!

What improvements have you seen in how you look, feel, and perform?
What I have noticed most is the combination of improved strength with the skill development around acrobatic movements. I especially love combining 1-1 training with WOD’s so I can dig into the details of form and technique and then apply those learnings to the regular workouts.

What days and times do you come to Croga?
That has evolved over time. I used to be a regular 5am er but now I prefer the Monday and Wednesday 6:30 class and then Saturday and Sunday mornings. Work and kids and music are too demanding during the week to regularly hit other WOD’s but if I do have more time during the week, I prefer to focus on 1-1 sessions.

What’s your favorite WOD?
I like WODs that include bench, deadlifts, abs and suit case or farmers carries.

What’s your least favorite WOD?
Anything with burpees, running; snatches or thrusters.

“The Paul” WOD! What would it be?
I love the WODs we started doing on my 60th birthday, back in May. Each year we will add 1 rep to every set!

What’s your favorite post-workout routine?
I love stretching and taking a nice hot soak and then stretching more. It’s like magic.

What’s been your favorite culinary discovery since joining Croga?
Nonfat yogurt. There are so many ways to use it. It’s such a great source of protein and can easily be combined with protein and creatine supplements as well.

What’s your biggest fitness goal for this year?
I’d love to get back below 190 and also get a bar muscle up.

What do you love about this type of fitness?
The freshness and variety make it easy to amp up the intensity since it is never boring.

What words of advice do you have for new members or people considering joining Croga?
Focus on two things: consistency and form. Don’t worry as much about PR’s and weight – that follows consistency and form.

Anything to add that we haven’t touched on yet?
I just want to put a shout-out to Cody. It has been so excellent working with him in class, for the nutrition program (which I highly recommend) and 1-1. He’s an incredibly insightful coach because he listens and he pushes just the right amount. He is the reason I am still at Croga!

I love the Croga community because the positive energy is really motivating, particularly during challenging times, and there have been many over these 8 years.

Some of you may know I have 6 children, who have grown up a lot since I joined. When I started, I’d been the biggest member of my family for 40 years. Now I’m number four, thanks to three very large and strong football-playing sons, two of whom are NCAA student-athletes.

During this time I also went through a pretty painful divorce and lost my mom and dad after caring for them for 7 years in my home: Both in their 90s and married for 73 years.

Work is demanding, leading a large innovative organization bringing Photonics to the main stage inside of a Fortune 500 company for Augmented Reality and AI high-speed interconnect.

Fitness has made a real difference through all of this. I don’t feel 60. In fact, I feel better than when I was 40.

Everyone at Croga is so gracious and supportive, which makes me excited to pursue becoming a centenarian and having a vibrant journey getting there.

ERIC TRACY

Coach

About

Hi friends! I have been doing CrossFit since 2013 and coaching since 2015. I originally gave it a shot after I stopped playing competitive soccer and needed another outlet for my energy and my extroverted needs. I’ve always had a passion for helping others, and I’ve been drawn to teaching in the things that I’m passionate about. I’ve been fortunate enough to be a soccer coach, snowboarding instructor, skydiving coach, and EMT instructor during my adult career, and I’ve loved every minute of it. My favorite thing is to watch people get excited about their own progress and encourage the same love of fitness and health that others have fostered in me. I currently work in the ER and hope to continue pursuing my interest in emergency medicine and cardiology. I can’t wait to meet you, help you move better, and share a dad joke with you.

About

As a young athlete, Devin quickly found a passion for strength and fitness. He grew up playing football, wrestling, and was a thrower on the track and field team, among many other sports. His coaching career started at a young age working with kids as a student coach which sparked a lifelong passion for wanting to help others realize their potential.

It wasn’t until 2008 that Devin found Crossfit at Crossfit Los Gatos, working as a front desk supervisor. After becoming hooked on Crossfit Devin quickly attained the CF-L1 certification, became a Coach in 2009, and hasn’t looked back. (Since he’s earned his CF-L2 certification as well)

Fast forward about 16 years and Devin has become both an accomplished Crossfit/Weightlifting Athlete and Coach. ROXANNE LYNCH

Coach

About

Howdy, I’m Roxanne – a coach at Croga Fitness that’s all about helping you reach your desired fitness goals by challenging you and having fun along the way.
I got into fitness as a kid when I was introduced to Crossfit through my Uncle. I fell in love with the community and the way it challenged me to be better than I was the day before. Prior to coaching here at Croga, I coached group fitness classes at another gym. I love coaching workouts that build endurance and get you sweaty but have you leaving feeling accomplished.
When taking a class with me you can go into it knowing there’s nothing you “can’t do,” and that workouts are modifiable, but expect to challenge yourself.
Outside the gym, you might catch me at a coffee shop, baking, or somewhere out in nature.
“Train your body. Challenge your mind. Elevate your life.”

Dillan Campos

Coach

About

Hi, I’m Dillan Campos. I’m a coach at Croga Fitness. I bring a laid-back vibe outside the workout, but once class starts, you’ll hear me across the room pushing people to keep moving and believe in themselves.
I grew up playing basketball and also competed in football and track & field. After sports injuries led me into a tough period mentally and physically, I found my way back through the gym, starting with powerlifting and bodybuilding for about five years before transitioning into CrossFit. I’m DEKA Certified and CrossFit Level 1 Certified, and what I love most about coaching is watching people realize they’re capable of way more than they thought. My goal is to make classes a space where everyone can challenge themselves at their own pace.
In my classes, expect good energy and encouragement.
Outside the gym, I’m usually terrible at golf, hanging out at the beach, fishing, or getting way too competitive during board games.
“You don’t have to be perfect; just show up and give me what you’ve got today.”

David Musgrave

Owner

About

From a very young age, it became apparent that Coach Dave loved all things sport and competition related. Maybe it was being the youngest of four or maybe it was being the only boy in the family. Whatever it was, it has created a fire inside of him that fuels his urge to constantly be striving for excellence through consistent and steady improvement. His unwavering persistence and eternal optimism are his two greatest assets as a husband, father, coach, entrepreneur and athlete. They are the pillars he has stood on for as long as he can remember and are the reasons he is such a fantastic leader. He grew up playing competitive soccer, loves snowboarding and enjoys traveling the world. Dave was thrown into the world of CrossFit in 2008, he has competed in the largest competitions in the CrossFit world and in 2017 he was the 18th Fittest Man in Northern California in The CrossFit Games Open, finishing 34th at the California Regional as an Individual Athlete. Dave relocated to Boise, ID with his wife and two daughters but still has a hand in directing the heart of Croga Fitness. When he is not coaching or training, you can usually find him reading a book, listening to a podcast, doing some online continuing education or having a chat with someone he thinks he can learn from. As a very curious, driven and dedicated individual, he like to say that he is a serial learner and has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Over the years, Dave has experimented with a lot of different types of eating, but never really felt like he was in control or consistently making the correct food choices that would result in long term success until he found WAG and “flexible dieting”. Dave and his wife have both had significant success with improved body composition and performance since incorporating this healthier and more sustainable type of eating into their lives and it has inspired Dave to want to share with others and inspire them to improve their health through flexible dieting as well.

JOSEPH (JOEY) GONZALES

Coach

About

Hi, I’m Joey Gonzales, a coach at Croga Fitness. I like helping people work hard, enjoy the process, and leave feeling better than when they walked in.
I grew up playing soccer and originally found CrossFit in 2012, which helped build my foundation and led me deeper into fitness. I’ve been coaching since 2019 and hold my CrossFit Level 1. I enjoy helping people challenge themselves while still moving well and feeling good doing it.
In my classes, I take time to get to know you and what you’re working toward. I’ll push you when it makes sense, but it’s always about progress at your pace. Expect hard work, good energy, and a group that supports each other.
Outside the gym, I’m usually with my girlfriend and our dog Coit, getting outside, visiting family on the Central Coast, or finding a solid BBQ spot- usually with a beer involved. I also work in the mental health field, which shapes how I connect with people.
“Slow and steady.”

Snatch – 245

Clean and Jerk – 305

CrossFit Total – Back – 485 Strict Press – 220 Deadlift – 445

Personality – Priceless

About

Taylor moved to California in 2021 and is originally from Alaska by way of Portland. During the Day he is an HR professional. During his free time, he loves to disc golf, play board games, eat good food, ski, and travel.

Turning Point

I am a D1 volleyball athlete turned recreational rugby player turned mediocre disc golfer. After leaving college I had no idea how to take care of my body or my nutrition. Then at 23, I started what would become a 7+ year battle with cancer and my body was just falling apart. 5 years ago, in between rounds of chemo, I found CrossFit. The diverse workouts kept me excited, the community kept me showing up, and the rest is history.

Motivation & Passion

I truly just want everyone to be as excited about movement as I am. Sure is the competition side of CrossFit fun and exciting? Yes. But there is nothing like discovering the power inside yourself to positively create change within your body, within your life. That feeling from when you’re 6 years old and you make it across the monkey bars the first time does not go away. Whether it’s cross-training for athletics, trying to keep up with your kids, or getting in the best shape of your life at age 50, I want to be a part of that journey for members. That’s why I coach, and that’s why I show up at the gym (almost) every day.

About

I’ve been interested in the human form and movement for as long as I can remember and decided at University to get serious about learning it! I’m a practicing Physical Therapist, fitness coach and mama of three. Those little rascals are by far my favorite and greatest motivation. Some of my interests include: playing the tenor sax, anything water-sport (including sailing), horseback riding, racquetball, dancing, wine tasting …and fun!

Turning Point

I was a boxer and broke my hand in the ring. While I was post-surgical, in my cast and feeling sorry for myself, I started focusing on strength training. After a couple of years and noticeable progress, I decided to try out CrossFit.

Motivation & Passion

When people come together, support one another and get health benefits that surpass conventional outcomes by moving better and working hard..well then we’re on to something. CrossFit facilitates this AND gives an opportunity to all, athletes and coaches alike. Getting someone moving better and proud of their own achievements / progress is my motivator. I may not get them to their finish line, but if there is an opportunity along their journey I can educate, coach and push them, oh…I’m there!

About

Work as a project manager for a general contractor by day, and throw weight around at my favorite gym by night. I love working out, I want to share my love for working out with everybody and hope it rubs off. It is the best natural medicine for anything. The more people realize that the happier our lives will be.

Turning Point

I have a passion for sports and working out. I want to share that passion with people, and hope it gives them what it has given me throughout the years. I wasn’t able to do that while working as a project manager, I was blessed with the opportunity to do so at Croga and it has been very fulfilling.

Motivation & Passion

I want to see people live happy lives, and one of the best starts to do that is feeling like the best version of themself. Going to the gym and having fun a few days of the week is a step in the right direction.

Nicolas Tran

Coach

About

Hi, I’m Coach Nick, one of the coaches at Croga Fitness. I bring a high-energy but approachable coaching style to every class and love helping people feel strong, capable, and confident every time they walk through the doors.

I got into fitness through sports and strength training, but over time I became even more passionate about helping others move and feel better in everyday life. I’m a personal trainer and coach with a background in strength and conditioning, movement assessments, mobility work, and functional fitness. My favorite thing to coach is helping people bridge the gap between performance and longevity. I want you to train hard while still taking care of your body for the long run.

My coaching philosophy is simple: meet people where they’re at and help them improve one step at a time. In my classes, you can expect encouragement, good energy, attention to movement quality, and workouts that challenge you without making fitness feel intimidating.

Outside of the gym, I’m usually programming workouts, drinking way too much coffee, listening to podcasts, or finding new ways to make training more effective and sustainable. I genuinely enjoy learning about movement and helping people feel better both inside and outside the gym.

“You don’t have to be perfect. You just have to keep showing up.”

Turning Point

From then on, he wanted to pursue a career in physical therapy so that he could have the opportunity to help people and guide them down a path of living a longer and healthier life. Coach Nick worked as a physical therapist aide at numerous clinics in San Jose and wanted to broaden his horizons with more hands-on training. He looked at gyms and came across Croga Fitness that had a loving community and the rest is history!

MARIAH EULY

About

Mariah started her CrossFit journey in 2020 during the pandemic, drawn in by the supportive community and the intensity of the workouts. She quickly developed a passion for the challenge and never skips a workout that includes double unders or power cleans.

In 2024, she took that passion a step further by becoming a coach. For Mariah, coaching is more than just leading workouts—it keeps her accountable and gives her the opportunity to help others push past their limits. She finds the most fulfillment in seeing members leave the gym feeling stronger, more confident, and proud of what they’ve accomplished.

When she’s not coaching, you can find Mariah spending time with family, relaxing at a cozy coffee shop, enjoying a country concert, or hanging out with her dogs.
