Meet Ameer, our Member of the Month!
From day one, Ameer has brought incredible energy, a welcoming attitude, and a competitive spirit that elevates everyone around him. He’s always quick to introduce himself, cheer on others, and jump into the work — especially when the workout includes a moderate-to-heavy barbell paired with a cardio machine. Ameer loves to get after tough sessions, push the pace, and set the tone for what it means to train hard while still having fun. We’re proud to have him as part of the Croga family and even more excited to recognize him as this month’s Member of the Month.
Way to go, Ameer—you’ve earned it!
When did you join Croga?
August 2025 — I recently moved to California from the UK and was looking for a new Crossfit gym.
What were you doing before for fitness?
I belonged to a CrossFit gym back in the UK. Same pain, just different country!
What was your first workout? First reaction to your first workout?
I can’t remember the full workout, but I definitely remember a very heavy sandbag. I was like “I am absolutely not prepared for this.”
What improvements have you seen in the way you look, feel, and perform?
It’s been so good getting back into regular training again after the big move. I can’t do without it! Not only does it help me fitness wise but mentally also!
I also hit my first Croga PR the other day which was a nice win!
What days and times do you come to Croga?
You can usually find me in the evening classes around 5:30pm and I’m always around for the Saturday Partner WOD — I absolutely love it!
What’s your favorite WOD?
Anything that involves more machines, I love the conditioning style workouts and the partner/team WODs.
What’s your least favorite WOD?
All the ones that have gymnastics related movements – lets just say those are a work in progress!
“The Ameer” WOD — what would it be?
I’ll be lucky if they let me write a WOD again after this so I might as well go all out? It would definitely start with a run followed by a machine of some sort – probably the echo bike. Then, a mix of dumbbell movements like thrusters, devil presses, snatches and STOH.
Plus we gotta get the 80s tunes going. Feel it will be the right mix! …I’ll probably be the only one that will show up for this.
What’s your favorite post-workout routine?
Driving home in complete silence, wondering what just happened.
What’s your biggest fitness goal for this year?
Improving my mobility and finally getting good at gymnastics (see previous answer!)
What do you love about this type of fitness?
What’s there not to love? The mixture of cardio, weight lifting and gymnastics keeps you hooked. There’s always something to work on, it’s always fresh and you don’t get stuck in the same routine. Plus the class based environments and community helps encourage you to push yourself and have a good time with everyone.
What words of advice do you have for new members or people considering joining Croga?
Do it. Croga has a great community and great coaching. It’s a good vibe and they also have a wide range of classes. Plus, Croga is also a Hyrox affiliate! For me personally, it’s been a great way to not only train but also to meet new people.
