Meet Roxanne, our Member of the Month!
We’re so excited to celebrate our Member of the Month, Roxanne, someone who has truly been an amazing addition to the Croga community since joining in October 2025. She is an absolute joy to have in the gym — always bringing a positive attitude, supportive energy, and a willingness to work hard no matter what the workout throws her way. The dedication she shows in her everyday life clearly carries over into her training, and it’s inspiring to watch her show up ready to give her best each day.
Outside the gym, she’s currently working toward becoming a firefighter and is in the process of getting certified as an EMT, and you can see that same determination and resilience in every class she takes. Whether she’s grinding through a tough WOD or encouraging those around her, she embodies what it means to be part of a strong, uplifting community. We’re incredibly grateful to have her as part of Croga, and if there’s one thing we all agree on, it’s that we only wish she had joined us sooner. We can’t wait to continue cheering her on as she chases her goals both inside and outside the gym!
Way to go, Roxanne—you’ve earned it!
When did you join Croga?
I joined Croga in October of 2025, although it feels like I’ve been here much longer!
What were you doing before for fitness?
I was going to the gym on campus at SJSU and programming my own workouts. While I had the knowledge to do so, I was missing a key factor – a community.
What was your first workout? First reaction to your first workout?
Hmm… I don’t remember what my first workout was but I remember after my first trial class, thinking “Yup this is it, put my credit card on file because you’ve made a member out of me.”
What improvements have you seen in the way you look, feel, and perform?
I definitely think my fitness overall had become more well-rounded and my endurance has improved. I also think having a community to motivate me has improved my performance and given me the push I need for challenging workouts.
What days and times do you come to Croga?
It varies… I’m more of a morning person but because of work I usually go to evening classes. Lately I’ve been going to more of the 4:30/5:30 pm classes.
What’s your favorite WOD?
Hmm… probably “The Chief” hero wod. It makes you wonder why you willingly showed up for it while you’re doing it but feels so good after.
What’s your least favorite WOD?
Not to be that person, but I don’t really think I have a least favorite… although Ameer’s MOTM wod was killer.
“The Roxanne” WOD — what would it be?
Probably a combination of the movements in “DT” and “Cindy.” But snatches are the best too.
What’s your favorite post-workout routine?
I don’t really have one… I guess enjoying the good mood I’m in after a workout and listening to music while sitting in traffic on the way home haha
What’s your biggest fitness goal for this year?
To get my double unders back, get my killing down for TTB and pull-ups, and maybe a BMU?
What do you love about this type of fitness?
How uplifting the Croga community is and how it’s me against me in every workout. I also love how functional it is – whether it’s carrying in all the groceries in one trip or back stocking heavy produce boxes at Trader Joe’s, these skills translate to many other facets of life!
What words of advice do you have for new members or people considering joining Croga?
To anyone considering joining Croga, do it! My life has changed exponentially since joining and as I mentioned earlier this week, the hour or two I’m at Croga is the highlight of my day. For the longest time I held off on venturing into this type of gym because I felt the training I was doing on my own was adequate. But I was lacking a community and social connections that I’ve since formed at Croga. My only regret is that I didn’t join sooner. 🙂
