New Members! A big welcome to the Cróga Family to Tim, Stacey and Madi. We are excited to have you join us and look forward to seeing what you will bring to our group. Also, to Stacey and Madi, we are very excited to meet Tyson (they have an english bulldog that will hopefully be coming to class soon).


I’ve been hearing a lot of complaints about wrist pain and I have addressed them individually to this point, but I feel like it’s time we get something written down and posted on the world wide web so you all can go back and reference it as needed.

Your wrists are joints that are involved in a large percentage of our movements and for this reason, we need to make sure we take care of them and do everything we can to avoid pain in this area. There are 3 things that I want you all to consider and do when you’re experiencing pain in this area:

1. If you have a history of wrist pain, make sure to incorporate some of the wrist stretches, forearm work, and shoulder stretches we’ve taught you and you’ll see in the video below by Kelly Starrett.

2. Pay close attention to the movement you are performing and listen to the advice we’re giving you about bar position. Many of you have a tendency to “death grip” the bar in the rack position, especially when you are going to finish the lift with a press. We really need you to work on releasing your hand so that the bar can sit on your shoulders. This will also require you to get your elbows as high as possible.

3. Wear wrist wraps if you’ve got them or ask for tape if you need it. Many of you have seen the wrist wraps that I wear and these just help to give my wrist some support in that full extended position. We are going to have some custom strength wraps made that will be black with green stitching and our logo on them. Let us know if you would be interested in buying a pair. The price will be $30 for a pair and we will let you know when they’re coming in as soon as we have that answer.

I hope this helps and that it also brings up some questions from you all next time you’re in the gym. Let us know what hurts and exactly where and we’ll do our best to get it worked out and work on your positioning to eliminate the pain as much as possible.
