Got a lot of sleep last night and felt great this morning. Had a great breakfast, 4 eggs cooked in bacon grease, 1 glass of orange juice, 1 banana & 3 cups of coffee. Went and taught our only class of the day, 9 to 10 am and then started my warm up.
For time (no time cap) – 20:21
100 KB Swings @ 53#
100 OHS @ 95#
This WOD went pretty well, I had a buddy with me, so I think that helped me continue to push. I completed the 100 pull-ups in 3:36 which I thought was really good. I did them in 20 sets of 5, just like I did the 100 C2B pull ups a week or 2 ago. The double unders were pretty difficult because I had trouble straightening my arms after all those pull ups. These ended up taking me about 2 minutes total and I was expecting them to take between 75 seconds and 90 seconds. The KB swings is where this WOD really started to suck. I did 7 sets of 10 reps and then did the last 30 reps in sets of 5. I think I could’ve gone to sets of 5 sooner and it might have helped me, I was resting a lot between sets of 10. Finally, the OHS went pretty well. I did 20 reps right off the bat and I felt good, I did sets of 10 from there. At about rep 40 or 50 my left lower arm and hand started to go numb and this kind of got the best of me mentally. I found myself thinking about it and not concentrating on my breathing or my movement. Overhead squats are one of my favorite movements, so I’m a little disappointed at how long they took me, but I was pretty tired by that point. It’s now 6 hours later as I type this and my thumb is still kind of tingly, I think there’s some tightness in my shoulder or upper back that is pinching a nerve and causing the numbness, it’s happened before and goes away, but it’d be nice to figure out what causes it so I can prevent it in the future.
The video is 2 parts because it’s 20+ minutes long. They are below.
